2016 Takapuna Grammar School Golf Day

The 11th Annual Takapuna Grammar School PTA Golf Day, in November 2016 was a resounding success.  The weather was perfect and we had a full course of happy golfers.

We raised about $14,000, which we are thrilled with.

The proceeds are to go towards a major project in 2017, improving the outdoor areas around the Ralph Roberts building to create a better break-time environment for TGS Students.

Thank you very much to all our generous sponsors, donors and supporters - an event like this is only possible with the support of a large number of people and businesses.

TGS Comedy Night - Friday 4 September 2015, 8pm - R18

What a great night!  With hilarious comedians Paul Ego, Jeremy Corbett and Matt Stellingwerf.

The hall was packed, thanks for your support.  As you probably know, department budgets can't fund everything.  The PTA aims to target 'wishlist' items that help enrich the experience of many students over the years.

Funds raised from The TGS Comedy Night 2015 have gone to the Performing Arts 'wishlist':

$7250 for: Canon EOS 700D camera; Lighting in M26 and Drama Room; Blackout and new curtaining in M26; Sound system, mounted speakers for dance; 4x Shure wired mics.

PTA News November 2016

2016 has been a ‘quiet’, yet successful year for your PTA – events bringing the community together, while raising money to support TGS students with projects that would otherwise be outside departmental budget.

Last year the PTA funded a large number of ‘wish list’ items over several departments (over $40,000). This year we are saving up, hoping to contribute to an exciting new outdoor project to improve students’ break-time environment.

We recognise that the local event calendar is becoming increasingly busy, with requests for donations and sponsorship from many deserving groups. Thank you for helping us support TGS students by coming along to PTA events, and with your generous donations.

Congratulations to Halim Hoskin, who received the PTA Inspiration Award at Senior Prizegiving, celebrating a student who has persevered and shown resilience to achieve personal excellence.

TGS 11th Annual Golf Day – Thursday 3 November. 25 teams, with a range of golfing expertise, enjoyed a fresh spring afternoon golf competition at Waitemata Golf Course, followed by dinner, prizegiving and silent auction. Our sincere thanks go to the extremely generous local families and businesses who provided fabulous auction items, prizes and sponsorship. An event like this is only possible with the help of a raft of volunteers – some regulars have been participating for many years - Thank you, all. With the near-capacity number of teams, and fantastic sponsorship and prizes, we have raised over $10,000. A worthy project will be determined early next year.

Christmas Gifts – ‘Taste of Takapuna’ cookbook – Now $20: Our Cookbook is an ideal Christmas gift for friends, family or business contacts. Once the current major building work is completed, the PTA will pledge the funds raised from the sales of our cookbook, ‘Taste of Takapuna’, towards a major project to enhance the outdoor area to improve the break-time environment for our students. So far we’ve raised almost $65,000 towards our target of $90,000. Please be part of this exciting project - contact PTA or school office to purchase. Price now $20.

TGS Comedy Night with Paul Ego, Ben Hurley and Rhys Mathewson. Held in the Sports Hall for the first time, another super evening of great Kiwi Comedy. The $5000 raised is still to be allocated.

Family Portraits Photo Fundraiser – Michael Overend Photography offered friends of TGS a fabulous Portrait Package worth $785, for just $100. 20 families took up this offer.

“ Say Aloha Takapuna! ” – Party for parents, friends and staff of TGS Fabulous local band Ran For Cover rocked our partygoers in the PB atrium – we had a blast and raised over $5000 for your nominated school groups.

Staff Morning Tea - on behalf of the TGS community the PTA hosted a morning tea early in the year for TGS staff, thanking them for their care, inspiration, and encouragement of our students.
