Anya Christiansen places at Smart Alex Creative Writing Competition

Year 12 student Anya Christiansen has been awarded second place in the 2019 Smart Alex Creative Writing Competition, Years 11-13 Category.

This is a prestigious competition run by 'The Friends of the Turnbull Library' in Wellington. Her piece is called 'In Our Foreign Land', and relates the story of the Maori Battalion that went to fight in Greece, Sicily, Italy and Egypt in World War Two. Anya has received a cash prize ($400.00) and was presented with a 'Certificate of Award' at assembly this morning. This is a fantastic achievement for Anya and the school congratulates her.
