Board of Trustees Nominations

Nominations are invited for the election of six (6) parent representatives to the Board of Trustees of Takapuna Grammar School.

Nomination Form

Attached is a nomination form to enable you to put your name forward as a candidate in the forthcoming Board of Trustees elections, or to nominate someone else as a candidate.

Anyone may stand for election to the Board of Trustees. If you are on the school voting roll and, hence, are eligible to vote, then you can nominate yourself and do not require a seconder. If you are not on the voting roll, you must be nominated by someone who is on the voting roll. Further details regarding ineligibility to stand for election are on the reverse of the nomination form.

To nominate yourself or someone else, complete the nomination paper, including the necessary signatures and enter the candidate’s contact details including address and telephone numbers (home and mobile), then post or hand deliver to the Returning Officer at the address shown below.

Note: Nominations will close at 12.00 noon on Friday 24th May 2019

Candidate’s Statement

All candidates are invited to submit a brief (max 400 words) statement – this could include experience, qualifications, previous experience with this or other schools, and reasons for standing for election. It is the candidate’s responsibility to ensure that the statement is received by the Returning Officer by email to [email protected]

If it is not received by 12.00noon on Friday 24th May 2019, it will be presumed that a statement is not to be sent to voters with the voting papers.

NB: The Returning Officer will omit or abridge any part of the candidate’s statement where it exceeds 400 words or is considered to be offensive or defamatory.

Voting Roll

A copy of the voting roll will be available for inspection from Wednesday 8th May 2019, at the Takapuna Grammar School Office between 8.30am and 3.30pm each school day.

Voting and Results of the Election

If the number of nominees is the same as, or less than, the number of vacancies, then the nominees will be declared elected and no election will be required. If there are more nominations than vacancies for parent representatives, eligible voters will be posted voting papers and candidate’s statements (where provided) on or about Wednesday 29th May 2019

NB: Potential nominees are invited to contact the current Chair of the Board of Trustees, Vivien Kirk, at [email protected] if they wish to find out more about the role.

The poll closes at 12.00 noon on Friday 7th June 2019. The highest polling candidates will be elected to the Board of Trustees. The results will be made available at the school and will also be published in the local newspaper.

Nomination forms are also available in Te Reo Maori. Please contact the Returning Officer if these are required. Please post or hand deliver completed nomination forms to:
