TGS Wins Business Case Competition
This week a team from TGS, Connor Williams, Bill An, Evan Moorby and Daniel Byrnes entered the NZ Secondary Schools Business Case Competition, ANZ's premier high school business case comp. Entrants are given a challenging business case to analyze within 1 week and to devise an analysis of the case, get evidence, analyze data, come up with a business solution, and cost and forecast the profit/loss. This is presented as a 10-minute video via powerpoint in the background. The top 6 teams are then invited to do a live presentation at the main lecture theatre of Massey University Business School and presentations are judged and a live Q&A is given by academic staff, including the head of the business school, and sponsors.
This team made the finals on Saturday July 29th, and then went on to the win the entire competition! They did an amazing job of the presentation and the Q & A was superb with all boys helping out and adding great points.
Kristen School was second, and a combined team from Kings/St Kents/St Cuths & Dio came third, our team was all Year 12 team, most of the others were all, or mostly Year 13's! The boys received a trophy, prize money, and a healthy dose of self-belief and motivation. We believe this is the first time TGS has won this competition. Well done boys!
