Level 1 Biology Field Trip to Arataki
In week 2 our Level 1 Biology students spent a day visiting the Arataki Visitor Centre and the surrounding Waitakere Forest area. Students were there to investigate the impacts of pest control on our native forest. Traps and poison have been the main weapons in our fight against the impact of pests on our native plants and animals and it was fantastic to see the rewards that persistent, hard work can produce when trying to restore our natural environment. The field trip gave students an important background to their first topic for the year and hopefully encouraged them to get involved in local environmental projects.
