Mischa Thomas wins Gold at Slopestyle Ski event in CardronaYear 10 Mischa Thomas has won the Open Women’s division in the first Slopestyle event of the season at Cardrona on Saturday. This is the first event of the 2022 Volkl NZ Freestyle Series which consists of 5 events held in different locations across NZ.
Saturday 23rd July saw the first event of the series kick off under perfect conditions with blue skies, great snow and plenty of spectators observing from the chair lift as competitors battled nerves and each other for bragging rights. The Open Womens field was full of action with a number of the competitors failing to put down a safe first run and it all came down to the 2nd run. Whilst Mischa's first run was good it wasn't perfect, her second was pretty close it it. Her rail line was clean with a front 2 on the down flat down rail followed by a back 2 on the kinked rail and switch lip 2 on the flat down she then moved onto the jump section nailing a right 5 Japan followed by a switch 5 safety and finished off with a left 5 stale to take the lead and win.

Congratulations Mischa and all the best for the rest of the series. Next up is the Cyber Slopestyle which is an online video edit, before moving to Mt Hutt in August then Turoa and The Remarkables in September.
