TGS MUNA Students tackle the big issues onstage
On Saturday the 29th May, students from Takapuna Grammar visited Auckland Girls’ Grammar to take part in the Model United Nations Assembly (MUNA). Students discussed important remits, such as how the UN can enforce women’s rights and how to support the World Food Programme.
Attending this conference was invaluable for our students; one student, Lucy Smith, recognised how ‘every country has a different perspective to offer’ when trying to come up with solutions to these truly global issues. Students did not just learn about public policy, however, watching 200 speeches in total taught them a lot about the intricacies of rhetoric and how to construct a good speech.
The students would like to thank Ms Curtis, the UN Youth Club, Auckland Girls’ Grammar and the Rotary Club for making this event possible.
