The Year 9 Programme
The Year 9 Programme at Takapuna Grammar School is an introductory course where students experience all Learning areas of the New Zealand Curriculum.
All students will study the following subjects:
- English
- Health & Physical Education
- Mathematics
- Science
- Social Studies
- Te toi Tangata - Humanities
In addition to the above subjects students will study from the following learning areas throughout the year:
- Arts – Dance, Drama, Music and Visual Arts
- Technology – Design Thinking, Digital Technologies, Food Technology, Resistant Materials, Soft Materials
- Languages – Chinese French, Japanese, Spanish, Te Reo Maori
Year 9 Extension & Support
Extension and support is offered throughout the Junior School. After consultation with Senior staff some students may be eligible for the following courses:
- Special Education
- Sports Institute
- Accelerated Learning Programme
- Literacy Support
- Art Extension - Dance, Music or Visual Art
The Year 10 Programme
The Year 10 programme at Takapuna Grammar School is an exploratory course which builds on the knowledge gained in Year 9.
All students will study the following subjects:
- English
- Health & Physical Education
- Mathematics
- Science
- Social Studies
- Te toi Tangata - Humanities
In addition, students are required to study three other subjects from the following learning areas:
- Arts - Dance, Drama, Music Classical, Music Contemporary, Visual Art, Visual Art Innovation
- Business & Enterprise - Enterprise & Financial Literacy
- Technology - Design & Visual Communication, Digital Technologies, Food Technology, Resistance Materials, Soft Materials
- Languages - Chinese, French, Japanese, Spanish, Te Reo Maori
